Wound Care doctor project

Question description

I choose a wound care doctor.

We discussed the ways in which licensure/registration can become a very complicated task, yet it is very rewarding in the long run. Considering the information about licensure/registration (as well as your discussion post about regulated professions), think of a health profession that interests you.

Step 1:

After you have identified at least one (1) health profession that interests you, your task is to interview a healthcare professional. During your interview, you must obtain information about their practice and how they view their profession. You will tie in the concepts from this entire course and develop an outline about: 1) The health profession that you’ve selected; and, 2) The interview process that you plan to conduct with a healthcare professional. It does not matter what type of healthcare professional they are — it could even be your primary care physician! The criteria is that the interviewee must hold a current license/registration. Keep in mind that you are not interviewing this individual because you want to pursue a career in their field. Instead, you are interviewing the healthcare professional to further understand the scope of their practice as well as what is current in their field.

Your final project (final paper) should include the following:

  • Introduction to the profession – What is this profession, and what do they do?
  • When did the profession become established?
  • Interview questions (as outlined below).

Here are the questions that you must ask during the interview. Feel free to ask additional questions if you like; however, you must address the following in your final paper:

  • Name and contact information of your the professional your interviewed.
  • Why did this person select this profession?
  • How long has this person been in the profession?
  • What do they like best about the profession?
  • How do they help influence the decisions of their patients?
  • What do they view as three determinants that help their patients access their care or not access their care?
  • What do they think of the healthcare legislation and how it will impact their practice?
  • What do they think the future of their profession holds? Are they excited about it?
  • What is a current health trend they are experiencing in their practice (for example, are they seeing patients that are more or less involved with specific diseases or new instances of diseases they may not have witnessed before)?

Your final paper should be formatted like the example within this folder. This includes:

  • Title page
  • Double-spaced
  • Page numbers
  • At least three (3) APA in-text citations and a reference page as we discussed in Module 4.
  • A minimum of 500 words.

Have fun with this interview! This is your opportunity to interview and interact with other healthcare professionals! This interview does not have to occur face-to-face. A suggestion might be to narrow down a profession and search the Internet for their professional associations Website and then email one or several individuals from this Website asking if you can interview them. This could occur on the phone, Skype/FaceTime, or over e-mail. You will need to select your profession by the end of this week, as your weekly summary will include the reason(s) why you selected this profession.
