Using Available Search Engines

  1. Cochrane Library, which includes the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (DARE), Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Cochrane Database of Methodology Reviews (Methodology Register), Health Technology Assessment Database (HTA), and NHS Economic Evaluation Database (NHS EED). (I got 1, so expect to get about the same amount.) Directions for Cochrane (PDF).
  2. PubMed, which includes MEDLINE. (I got 84, so expect to get about the same amount.) Review the Directions for PubMed (PDF).
  3. CINAHL (an acronym for Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) and Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition, both use EBSCO Host (I got 75, so expect to get about the same amount.) Review the Directions for EBSCO host: CINAHL (PDF). Limit to English language and academic journals.

Go to the link to the Bradley library and conduct a literature search in all three of these databases. The topic you are to search is nurse practitioner implementation of evidence-based data. Use the advanced search; limit the results to the past 5 years. Do two separate lines, one with nurse practitioner, and one with implementation of evidence-based data.

When you have completed this search, submit your results in the assignment link provided. Your results submission should include the following file formats:

  1. Results for Cochrane will be a .txt file.
  2. Results for PubMed will be an excel CSV file.
  3. The Results for EBSCO Host will be an HTML file.

Unless you export via Zotero.

This assignment will be graded using the Using Available Search Engines Rubric found in your syllabus.
