Toxicokinetics and environmental chemical exposure health risks

Toxicokinetics and environmental chemical exposure health risks

ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS: EPIDEMIOLOGY CLASS    (response to Mat)

***Assignment:

  1. 1. I need to respond to another student assignment (See uploaded student assignment)—Focus on the following:

- Start discussing about environmental pollution and chemicals affecting the health of the populations (Briefly) (You must have plenty of articles I sent you already about this)

- Discuss about Toxicokinetics (See textbook uploaded, pg 217, Merrill 2017)

- Discuss about Sulfuric Acid, lead and health risks (can be just brief, just to discuss about the student’s assignment (see below information and article)   textbook also discuss about lead

- Discuss about how air pollution and chemical exposure is a public health concern in the US and therefore it is even approached by Healthy People 2020 health initiatives that focus on:

  • Reduce the amount of toxic pollutants released into the environment
  • Reduce the number of days the Air Quality Index (AQI) exceeds 100, weighted by population and AQI

Reference: Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. (2019). Outdoor Air Quality. Retrieved from: https://www.healthypeople.gov/2020/topics-objectives/topic/environmental-health/objectives

  • Conclude on how it is important for health care providers to be aware of the major pollutants in the area and advocate for healthy environments. – Getting involved and supporting organizations that preserve and protect the environment such as Citizens for a Better Environment.

Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4) uses huge amounts of resist stripping and wafer cleaning material in semiconductor manufacturing plants. Because the reuse of H2SO4 is highly valuable in the semiconductor manufacturing process, many techniques have been proposed to recover and purify the H2SO4 waste [30]. It is harmful to the eyes and skin and may cause third-degree burns and blindness upon contact. It can damage the lungs and teeth, or even act as a carcinogenic to humans [31].

  1. Remember reference must be scholarly, peer reviewed article. Please include DOI numbers on the reference page (It’s required in APA). References MUST be scholarly journal articles (Nothing from conferences, goggle, .com).
  2. This assignment is for the DNP class and the grading is rigorous including grammar and APA style.

Thank you and let me know if you have any questions

Reminder: Please don’t start with sentences that start with “this, these, it…etc” this is vague and not use in formal writing. Need to specify what we are talking about. Also don’t use citations in the middle of the sentence. Avoid “as well as” as much as possible.

Thank you!
