GUIDELINES
FOR POWER POINT #2 AND PDF OF A CRITICAL REVIEW ARTICLE

1. Choose a patient-focused systematic review of the literature (also called critical review of the literature) from the nursing literature. Choose an article with tables showing the studies being compared. Publication date 2014-present.

2. Provide a PDF of the article for colleagues. Post in the Discussion with your Power Point Presentation. Also submit the presentation and PDF to the Dropbox for grading.

3. Plan for 25 Power Point slides for the presentation. Last slide should not be a reference slide. Info will appear on the first slide.

Power Point Slides

Title Slide - Identify the title of the article and your name and credentials, NU514-OL and date. Using APA format, cite the complete reference in a smaller font (size 14 or 16).

Slide 2 - Author(s) full names, credentials and affiliation.

Describe why you have chosen this study to present.

Quote the aim/purpose and cite the page number.

Describe the focus of the critical review. Describe why the review is important.

Present details about the method: Inclusion/exclusion criteria; search strategies, databases used, procedures, number of studies found and the number included in the review. Comment on the quality of the journals included and disciplines represented.

Describe the Results of the critical review article (at least 4 slides). State specifically what was derived from the critical analysis of the studies reviewed. The results are the most important part of the presentation. Do not list information from the Discussion.

Describe each table in the article and details about what is being presented. Comment on the quality of the information presented and how it is presented.

Opinion about using the results in your nursing practice (at least 1 slide).

Identify the strengths and limitations of the critical review.

Describe the conclusions of the critical review.

Provide your overall opinion of this clinically-focused systematic review of the literature.
