I work in a surgical admit discharge unit, I would like to talk about this as it is myself. If you can
please help me summarize this myself and write it.
I work in a fast-paced environment, with surgeons, doctors, and anesthesiologists. I must
prepare my patients within a certain time for surgery. If I do not have them ready in time. This
can cause a delay with other surgeries and cause many problems. Some doctors are not
approachable and do not like if you page them for something they feel is not important. Also,
they may forget to sign consent forms, but they will get upset if you did not remind them while
they are in the room. I feel intimidated talking to the doctors at times. I am not sure if you can
include this as a real-life situation and find a way, I would approach it. I have approached it by
focusing on my patient first and not worrying about what the doctors think I will have to
advocate and make sure orders are in and consents are signed regardless of if it irritates the
doctors.
