Combining Nurse Leader With Advocacy

Combining Nurse Leader With Advocacy
In each and every profession there is always a strength and weakness. In the profession, of nursing there are many strengths and weakness that one has to surpass in order to be successful and continue with the daily activities. I have a passion in doing nursing, and I know I am bound to reap great benefits. In order to rank high in life, a lot of hard work, dedication, passion, and motivation are all that is required. I am hard working and love taking care of people. This is the reason as to why I choose this profession because, I am capable of taking good care of patients, and provide them with the necessary attention that they require in order for them to get better. One of my strength in nursing is that I am capable of being there for a person even during the tough times in lives. When the patient appears to be very affected by the illness, I am able to be by their side without choosing who to provide care to and who not to.

Nursing is a rewarding job, and there are very few rewarding jobs. Each day of my life I have a lasting impact in the lives of the patient, which include having the chance of saving many lives of different patients. This is a very big reward. However, one of my weaknesses is that I am not emotionally stable. I normally consider it my fault when a patient happens to pass away in my care because I think that I was not very careful in providing the needed attention to save their lives. I usually think that I had the opportunity of saving their lives, and this disturbs me a lot. Being a nurse good communication skill is needed (Feldman, H 2011). Personally, I have good communication skills, and also listening skills. I usually listen to the different needs of patients and their families together with their expectations. I am able to explain to the patients the treatment that is being given to them.

In my profession, I have the ability to work in collaboration with other people from different cultures, races, and ethnic backgrounds. Working in collaboration involves having the ability to mentor other people, I motivate others so that they can be the best, and I also have the ability to increase the overall motivation and spirit between different people in the work place.

A person in the nursing profession needs to display leadership skills. Leadership is more than telling people what they should not do and what they should do. It includes everything else besides this. I will use my current leadership skills in creating an inspiring, meaningful, and an exciting place of work in the hospital. In order to do this, I am a visible leader who will utilise my problem solving skills, communication skills, and critical thinking skills in order to change the work place. I will teach the staff members to work together in teams, and they should ensure that they have good communication skills between themselves. Confidence is a very important factor in nursing. Having confidence in the work place will ensure that things are performed accordingly by the employees.

Confidence as a leadership skills help in ensuring that other people in the work place respect my guidance and opinions (Roussel L 2011). When every person in the work place is confident, even the patients are confident that their needs be cared for. My ability to solve problems will assist in changing the work place. There are different problems that usually arise in the field of nursing thus affecting the performance of the staff members (Feldman, H 2011). I will engage my senses and minds in solving these problems without causing any harm to the team members. When dealing with any kind of problem it is advisable that you do not rush into solving them. I do not rush in dealing with problems, but I take time to think about the problem, and then look for a possible solution to the problem. This skill in problem solving will be very useful in solving problems in the work place.

My goal is becoming a clinical nurse leader, and I will make sure that there is integration of evidence based practice in patient care. The patients will be able to benefit from the innovative and the most current delivery of care that is possible. In order to achieve this goal active communication with the patients, staff nurses and nurse researchers is needed for it to be implemented. By implementing evidence based practice, the patient care process will be supported by this practice (Menyk, B & Fineout, E 2011). In order for this goal to be achieved, news clinician skill is required, which will include efficient searching of literature, and the application of the evidence formal rules in evaluation of the clinical literature. This will be very effective and will help me in achieving this goal.
