Chronic pain is one of the most frequently cited reasons for adults to seek treatment from complementary and alternative medicine care. The 2007 National Health Statistics Report indicates that 4 out of 10 adults sought CAM treatments for pain.
You will complete a “fact sheet” which could be used by someone interested in CAM care for pain.

1. Explain why CAM modalities may by appealing to individuals affected by chronic conditions such as pain. Include information about specific groups who may be more likely to seek CAM treatment. This summary should be approximately 300-500 words.
2. Select five modalities within the CAM traditions based on your interest and available information for assessment. You goal is to present this information in a manner that is clear, concise and useful to an individual who does not have a background in CAM. Consider tables, infographics or any type o f presentation that makes sense to you.
Identify the following for each of your five modalities:
• A succinct summary of the major principle for each including significant strengths and limitations
• The type of practitioner(s) who provide these services, including any credentials required
• The type of treatment, length of treatment, and any other relevant facts that a potential client should know
• Evidence to support the use of this modality for chronic pain and sources of this evidence.
