Assignment 1 Response To Operant Conditioning

Operant conditioning is a kind of associative learning in which the behaviours consequences does change the chances of behaviours occurrence. Operant behavior according to B. F Skinner occurs spontaneously. Operant conditioning does have an effect to the lives of Christians.  Skinners work just like the Holy scriptures agree on the idea that the environment plays a critical role in influencing human behavior.

The scripture says in Roman 2:5, Matt 23:13, Jeer. 19-23 and Gen 3:14-19, that are the human  action is directly related to his or her action. Christians learn that whatever the action they do on earth, the day for judgment will come.  Right actions are not rewarded directly and bad actions do not directly contribute to suffering because of human sin.  Christian learns that reward is based on the faith that they have in God.

The examples we see in the  bible on  reward and punishment  is the fall of Adam and Eve after disobeying God and were banished away  from the Garden of Eden (Gen 3;15-18. their sin also led to death coming to man.  In another instance the behavior of King Pharaoh of Egypt in mistreating the Israelites led to punishment through the nine plagues.  In Hebrew 11:6 God says that He is the rewarded to those who seek him diligently and search Him with diligence and earnestness.

Apart from operant condition, we as Christian can learn through classical conditioning in which the natural stimulus gives us meaningful stimulus. For instance the current happenings in the world today as predicted in the book of book Revelations are the practical signs that these are the last days.

Section 2

Part 1:

Right from an early age Jews are taught to learn the Scripture. This is not something that has started recently   but goes back to the early times. Early education of the scripture just like any form of learning helps children memorize the word of God. This will guide them in the rest of their lives.  This shows that education in the ancient Jewish community was considered to be the top priority. I was glad to attend the church section where I saw children being taught about the importance of education to education.  I would say that the Jewish community highly values children as the important people for tomorrow’s society.

Part 2:

The Jewish Sabbath has many similar things with the Christian doctrine. Some of the shared values in the two religions include importance of God, the family allocating time   to worship and pray. Torah is the main foundation of Jewish learning and documentation. It clearly states the values which a Jew should follow in order to live a holy life. The Torah just like the Bible   teaches on how we communicate with God through ritual and prayer and how we have to   interact with fellow human beings. We as Christians have to learn from the Jews just like they too should learn from Christianity as way of creating a harmonious and united world as expected of us by God.
