Alice Walker’s Roselily

Roselily is one of the short writings of Walker which has two hidden stories inside the one story. In the first incidence is the black lady by the name Roselily who tries to make things happen by forcing the situation of marrying the Muslim. The problem with the lady is that she is think so much of her past and wonders how the future will react to the choice she has already made.

On the second incidence is a generalized aspect of black ladies on their moves about bettering their life, (Donnelly, 2009).Providing the audience on the thoughts of Roselily, the story tries to bring out a clear picture of how the black ladies used to be in the late 1960. We are able to realize that, by this period Black American had already found way to be free and they were ready to do similar things and activities with the Americans.

Roselily does not believe what she has decided and that is the greatest problem which makes her go deep into the thoughts. She is wondering whether the decision she has already made. In her thoughts it’s a clear indication that though she is free just like any other person, she is not free completely due to the job she is undertaking and that is why she has made a decision to change her life, (Donnelly, 2009).It’s evident that Roselily has actually tried to make her life to be better but she had no success at all.

All the men she had entered into a relationship with has actually disappointed her simply because instead of giving her new hope to life, they just gave her children. A sense of mobility can actually be seen on how cars are behaving which portrays that she can as well move on and test whether the life can change. Although she has move on and decided to marry her husband, we can see the regret impression which symbolizes how the Blacks regretted, (Donnelly, 2009).
