3wd Evergreen Home Health Agency essay

Scenario:
Evergreen Home Health Agency is located in eastern Oregon, which is a sparsely-populated area of 3,000 residents, the majority of whom are older citizens retired from the cattle ranching, lumber, and agriculture businesses. Many of these seniors have adult children who moved to urban cities such as Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington to attend college and never returned home because of lucrative job opportunities that are not in their hometown in eastern Oregon. Unfortunately, these adult children are not able to provide their parents with caregiving support, which means that the aging parents are relying heavily on Evergreen Home Health Agency to provide the care. Although Evergreen appreciates the increased demand for services, it cannot continue to sustain this pace, as their workers have been complaining about being overworked and unable to take the weekends off to be with their families. Evergreen’s leadership has scanned the market and realized that there is not a pipeline of young professionals prepared to meet the organization’s leadership and management needs. However, with a small investment in recruitment and training and a partnership with the only high school in the area, the organization could attract high school students to the health care field.
